Sugar & Alcohol

It's almost Halloween... one of my favorite holidays!

This weekend, most kids will be stuffing their mouths with candy and some adults will be drinking a little too much of the "lucky juice." Halloween is a time of candy, costumes and fun. However, all that sugar and alcohol can have negative effects on the body and make you feel sluggish and unwell.

Sugar is everywhere. It is in our food, our drinks and even the air we breathe. And while a little sugar is fine, too much sugar can have serious consequences for our health. The human body is not designed to process large amounts of sugar. When we consume too much sugar, it can lead to a number of problems such as weight gain, diabetes, inflammation and even heart disease. Sugar contains a lot of calories, and consuming too many calories can cause you to put on extra pounds. If sugary foods or drinks are consumed, blood sugar levels rise and the body releases insulin to lower these levels again.

Sugar and alcohol have several negative effects on the body, including increased risk of diabetes, weight gain, and liver damage (I'm talking about long-term consumption of both...) Both sugar and alcohol can also cause cognitive impairment, as well as mood changes such as irritability and lead to depression. Alcohol can cause dehydration and other negative effects on the digestive system. Ultimately, consuming too much sugar or alcohol can have a detrimental effect on overall health and well-being.

It's important to avoid foods high in sugar and choose whole foods instead. Focus on eating healthy, nutrient-dense foods. This includes fruits and vegetables as well as lean proteins such as chicken or fish. Regular consumption of these foods can contribute to healthy digestion and provide the body with the nutrients it needs to function properly. Additionally, including more fiber in your diet can contribute to healthy digestion and keep your energy levels stable throughout the day.

It's a good idea to drink plenty of water throughout the day. This allows toxins to be flushed out of your body and keeps you hydrated. You can also add detoxifying ingredients like lemon or ginger to your water for an extra boost. If you're feeling particularly sluggish or exhausted after a night of drinking and sugary treats, you might also consider incorporating some gentle exercise into your routine. A short walk or light yoga session can help you boost your energy levels and create a feeling of well-being and relaxation.

ROOT will help you with that! After a night of drinking with a lot of alcohol or sugar, the Trinity, consisting of Zero-In, Clean Slate and Restore, can help. With Zero-In you can combat the brain fog or headaches that can occur the next day after drinking too much alcohol. Alcohol and sugar contain so many toxins that taking a drop of Clean Slate can help you or your child remove these unwanted toxins from the body. Restore helps fight and repair leaky gut and boosts your energy. It can help boost metabolism the next day and reduce inflammation in the body. ROOT's Relive Greens can also help, as this blend is made up of fiber, probiotics, and dark leafy greens. High-fiber vegetables like kale and spinach have been shown to help with an upset stomach.

To everyone who celebrates Halloween and to those who don't... remember: always have fun and be safe.

With love and light
