Omega-3: A key to better health?

Our society is getting sicker and sicker. Diseases such as Parkinson's, dementia, cardiovascular diseases, cancer and autoimmune diseases are on the rise. But according to Dr. Michael Nehls, a renowned doctor and scientist, there is a relatively simple and effective solution to counteract these diseases: omega-3 fatty acids. In this article, we want to take a closer look at this important topic.

Why are we getting sicker and sicker?

According to Dr. Nehls, the rising disease rate can be traced back to our modern lifestyle. Put simply, our lifestyle is no longer species-appropriate. Although the term "species-appropriate" is often used for animals, it also applies to us humans. There are certain things that we absolutely need, and if our bodies have serious deficiencies, the consequences are inevitable. We may ignore the fact that we are part of nature, but we cannot ignore the consequences of this reality.

The biggest deficiencies in our modern diet

Many of us now know that we should eat healthily, get enough exercise and get enough sleep. Social contact is also essential to prevent mental illnesses such as depression and dementia. However, although we are aware of this, there are certain areas in which we have significant deficits. One key area is our diet - particularly our intake of omega-3 fatty acids.

Dr. Nehls has developed a formula that helps us to lead a healthy and long life. This "Mitusalim formula" covers all the important areas that need to be fulfilled in order to stay healthy and fully exploit the potential that lies within us. A crucial aspect of this formula is the adequate intake of omega-3 fatty acids, which are often lacking in our modern diet.

Why omega-3 is so important

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential nutrients that our body cannot produce itself. The two omega-3 fatty acids DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) are particularly important. DHA is an important component of the brain and the synapses, i.e. the contact points between nerve cells. A lack of DHA can lead to reduced brain performance and increase the risk of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's.

EPA plays a central role in the cardiovascular system and has an anti-inflammatory effect. Inflammation in the body is a risk factor for many chronic diseases, including cancer. A sufficient omega-3 index is therefore not only important for brain health, but also for general physical health.

The problem with omega-3 intake

Although many people believe they are eating a healthy diet, they are often lacking the right omega-3 fatty acids. Fish oil is often recommended as a source, but there are two problems with this: Firstly, many fish oils contain too little DHA and EPA, and secondly, fish nowadays are often contaminated with pollutants such as heavy metals and microplastics. The better alternative is algae oil, which is rich in DHA and EPA and has none of the disadvantages of fish oil.

Dr. Nehls emphasizes that algae oil is a revolutionary solution. It is a plant-based, vegan product that is extracted directly from microalgae. These algae are the original source of the omega-3 fatty acids that fish absorb through the food chain. Algae oil therefore offers a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to fish oil.

Conclusion: Omega-3 as the key to a long and healthy life

Adequate intake of omega-3 fatty acids, especially in the form of algae oil, can make a significant contribution to staying healthy and reducing the risk of many serious diseases. Dr. Nehls' approach of considering omega-3 as an essential part of a "species-appropriate" diet could play a key role in sustainably improving the health of our society.
