The vitamin D test is a confidential, laboratory-analyzed dried blood test that determines your current vitamin D status and helps you adjust your dietary vitamin D requirements. The test is quick and easy to perform, and the results are summarized in easy-to-understand graphs.
Performing the test
Test preparation
- The vitamin D test is an approved in vitro diagnostic for personal blood sampling at home.
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap, rinse them with warm water and dry them.
Taking a blood sample
Prick your finger with the disposable lancet and place 1 to 2 drops of blood on the Whatman® filter paper. The process takes less than a minute.
Activate the test
Enter your test ID and complete the form to register the test. Your data will remain anonymous.
Wait for results
Vitas Analytical Services in Norway analyzes your vitamin D status with over 25 years of experience in leading technology. Your sample is analyzed independently and your data is protected.
Receive results
Test results are available within 10-20 days and are presented in easy-to-understand graphs.
Repeat the test
Due to seasonal variations in vitamin D uptake from sunlight, we recommend repeating the test every 120 days to monitor and adjust your vitamin D status.
Analyze your health
Zinzino's vitamin D test measures your vitamin D level in capillary blood using a dried blood spot (DBS) method. Scientific studies show that a DBS test is as accurate as a venous blood sample for analyzing vitamin D status. All you need is 1 to 2 drops of blood from your fingertip on a Whatman® filter paper. VITAS Analytical Services in Norway will analyze your current vitamin D status. Vitamin D levels can change throughout the year, depending on sun exposure, diet, location and supplements. With your personal test ID, you will receive detailed, personalized recommendations to optimize your vitamin D status.
How does the test work?

What we measure
Our test measures serum 25(OH)D levels, also known as calcidiol, in the blood, which reflects vitamin D status from food, supplements and sun exposure. The normal vitamin D range is measured in nanograms per milliliter (ng/ml) or nanomoles per liter (nmol/l). You can choose which unit you want your test results to be displayed in. The 25-hydroxyvitamin D test is ideal for checking vitamin D levels and determining whether they are optimal, too high or too low.
